What do seminal hip hoppers Q-Tip and M.O.P. have in common? If you said both are featured on the track “Hope You’re Happy” by The Black Keys rap/rock experiment BlakRoc, you’d only be half right. They’ve also shared the stage with DJ MelBoogie and JJ Rock, the duo behind the decks at Ladies’ Night, this Saturday at 8pm on The Natrel Rink.
For more than a decade the pair have left an indelible mark on Toronto’s urban music scene. In addition to tearing up the festival and club circuit in Canada, the US and UK, garnering awards and making appearances on national television,MelBoogieandJJ Rock also host Droppin’ Dimez, one of Canada’s only all-female hip hop shows.
In the spirit of the Droppin’ Dimez show, the duo plans to spin a variety of reggae, hip hop and old school music to keep the party hoppin’ on the ice.
Melboogie even plans to strap on a pair of skates and do a few figure eights… to a soundtrack of J Dilla, of course. Don’t believe me? Check out the video.
