Dachshund UN is both a large-scale architectural installation and a performance piece. During our 2013 World Stage season, a replica of the former United Nations office in Geneva, will be built and a special session held, with live dachshunds replacing the international delegates. As creator Bennett Miller explains, dachshunds were used for this performance as they’re the only type of dog to have racial diversity within the breed – there are smooth, long-haired and wire-haired dachshunds in all sorts of different colours. A realistic parallel to their human counterparts. While in Toronto to help round up dachshunds (and owners), Bennett took some time to talk about the performance, its origins and more.
