Shake a tail feather with Shindig and DJ Misty Rock n’ Roll

On the last Friday of every month at The Piston Bar, 937 Bloor St. W. in Toronto, there’s a little Shindig going down and we’re very excited to bring this party to the Natrel Rink this Saturday. The one and only DJ Misty is going to be joining the Shindig crew — Toronto’s only all-vinyl party dedicated to the sounds of 1950’s and 1960’s R&B, soul and rock n’ roll — with her selection of 45RPM records to make you shake, rattle and skate.

We asked Misty to share some of her favourite dance floor fillers to see what we’d be in store for on the ice this Saturday and she didn’t disappoint. Here’s a little bit of what we can expect to shimmy in our skates to:

Little Willie John – Don’t Play With Love

This is a finger snapping number so irresistible you won’t be able to stand still.

Gloria Jones – Tainted Love

This foot stomping Northern Soul classic from 1964 has been covered numerous times but I still think this version is the best.

The Rolling Stones – Jumpin’ Jack Flash

“I was born in a cross-fire hurricane” could be a description of what I look like on ice skates, or a really classic Delta Blues inspired song by London England rock n’ roll legends, The Rolling Stones.

See you on the ice!
