K-Pop takes over the Natrel Rink

Dubbed “South Korea’s greatest export” by Time Magazine, there’s no denying the cultural impact and extreme growth of the K-Pop movement. A musical guilty pleasure for many people, including Snoop Lion (seriously, he said so) — acts like PSY and BIGBANG (the only K-Pop act in 2013 to enter the Billboard 200),  have solidified the genre’s popularity in North America. Canada’s #1 K-Pop event promoters, Pop! Goes the World, are bringing an audio/visual K-Pop extravaganza to the Natrel Rink this Saturday night at LunarSkate.

The evening will feature Pop! Goes the World’s owner/president and main mixmaster, DJ Gerald Belanger (aka VJ Gee) — who, according to LA Weekly is known for inciting “dance frenzies” alongside Toronto-based producer and writer, DJ DR. If past K-Pop events on the rink are any indication, this Saturday will be just as hype.

Want a taste of what you can look forward to this weekend? Pop! Goes the World put together this great compilation of the top K-Pop songs of 2013:

Stay tuned for more DJ Skate Nights every Saturday night until March 1. Up next is Cherry Bomb on Ice with DJ Denise Benson and Cozmic Cat on Feb 1st.

See you on the ice!
