Every three years Harbourfront Centre co-hosts the largest Indigenous festival in Canada to bring you a diverse range of First Nations music, dance and art by over 300 artists. We are pleased to reintroduce you to Planet IndigenUS, a celebration designed to raise public awareness and break stereotypes in an entertaining and informative atmosphere.
If you are looking for a lively Planet IndigenUS event we recommend checking out Day of Dance on Sunday, August 9 at 1pm. This performance at Harbourfront Centre’s Fleck Dance Theatre brings together top choreographers from across the globe. Over the course of an afternoon these talented artists will provide stunning visual stimulation while using dance to shine light on important indigenous issues. You won’t want to blink.
You can expect some of the best choreographers in the Indigenous dance community to be present. Expect to see the fantastic work of Penny Couchie, Santee Smith, Frances Rings, Dancing Earth, Bulareyaung Pagarlava, and Sarain Carson-Fox. This event will be filled with a striking variety of talent and Harbourfront Centre is pleased to host such a fantastic collective.
Planet IndigenUS is important to Canada as it represents where we have come from, where we are, and what we are headed toward. Indigenous civilizations are an integral part of what Canada is today. We welcome anyone of any age to come learn about and celebrate Indigenous communities. Day of Dance Tickets can be purchased for $15 at our online box office.
Planet IndigenUS runs July 31 – August 9.
