Vendors at Harbourfront Centre for Future Routes

Welcome to Future Routes!

It has been said that our future is informed and inspired by our past and that’s what our Future Routes Festival (July 8–10) is about. Forging new paths by taking inspiration from traditional roots and techniques and using them to create new ideas.

There are many vendors at the Lakeview Market that have taken inspiration from traditional techniques and combined them with modern methods to create a beautiful fusion of the two.

Nutan’s Creation is a great example where old school tradition meets contemporary design. You will find traditional Indian style prints in their modern style clothing. They have tops, skirts and pants with beautiful colourful prints, designed for the modern world.

We all like to talk about travelling overseas and bringing back that one of a kind cultural piece to remind us of our adventures. The unique wares at Andeel’s booth bring those countries into your home with lovely décor from Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco. Their stunning tea cup and saucer sets will make great house warming gifts. Need to find a wedding gift? Check out their their hand-made ceramic Turkish bowls. They have lots of lovely items that can spruce up your home.

Silver Valley Jewellery prides itself on promoting modern hand crafted Mexican silver products. If you appreciate silver jewellery with clean lines, Silver Valley is for you.

The continent of Africa is made up of many different countries each with its own unique culture. A number of those cultural traditions have influenced many from around the world, where artisans have used them as inspiration in their works. Afrik Colors builds on these traditions with a modern twist; you can get wood and banana leaf artwork and figurines, Balafon instruments, jewellery and body products. Well worth taking a look.

With all that shopping, you need something to eat and so we invite you to explore our World Café. Taste of Asia offers you a menu of delicious Indian-style Hakka Chinese food . You can also enjoy Churros, a traditional Latin snack, from Pancho’s Bakery or indulge in some Caribbean-style corn from One Love Vegetarian Catering.

You won’t want to miss all the amazing craft and food vendors at this summer’s Future Routes Festival. Make sure to follow us on social media and this blog to keep up on what is happening at the Lakeview Market this summer!
