Beats, Breaks & Culture returns August 5–7 with a mix of live music, DJs and dance, celebrating all that’s hip-hop and electronic music!
Exploring the bridge between these two genres, Beats, Breaks & Culture acknowledges the foundations of soul, jazz, disco and funk that helped create them. Like long lost siblings, the festival brings together these two worlds to explore the similarities and differences that make these two styles so unique while blurring the lines of Western pop and global music via the bridge.
This weekend we will also showcase products from different worlds. Asiri’s Treasure brings beautiful clothing from Peru and Nokrachi Art & Crafts imports art and crafts, home decor and artistic gift items from Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey and India. Find the perfect gift in their wonderful collection of clothing, tapestries, textiles, metal and wooden works, pottery and glassware.
Who wants a traditional card when you can get one that moves? A booth to check out this weekend is Roses Without Thorns. They have a collection of pop-up gift cards with many different themes, from famous landmarks around the world to celebrations and life milestones. They also make beautiful art pieces using paper roses in varying sizes and colours.
What is a market without jewellery? Sterling 925 Gems will be at the Lakeview Market showcasing their Hallmark 925 sterling silver jewellery and semi-precious gemstones. Sterling 925 Gems jewellery has a clean cut designs that will jazz up your wardrobe.
Great music and shopping calls for great food, and you’ll find that at Harbourfront Centre.
Sunshine Shakes will be here to quench your thirst with their delicious freshly prepared fruit smoothies. (Hint: pair one with Pancho’s Bakery famous Churros for a great snack.) If you’re looking for a larger meal visit La Loteria, a great food truck offering real mexican tacos made with fresh steak beef, carnitas (pork), fish as well as burritos and tostadas.
