I seemed to spend a lot of time in and around the Port Perry during the first phase of this project. The more time I spent there, the more interesting people I was introduced to so I just kept coming back. I hope to make a few trips into the Holland Marsh area this time around and to make it towards the eastern boundary of the Greenbelt towards Gores’s Landing.
On my first trip out I met everyone from archeologists to local dog walkers and they all had significant information and stories about the greenbelt in their regions. Whether it’s experts or passionate hikers, all those who come to the greenbelt have a great story to share.
Now there are two ways I can go about doing this final blog post – write a scathing invective directed at my employer and fellow co-workers, or reminisce over the fond memories and wonderful experiences I gained over the summer.
It’s hard to believe my time at Harbourfront Centre has come to an end. This summer seems to have gone by in a flash, but I know its because I had a blast. Not only have I learned an incredible amount through working here, but I met an amazing array of talented people.
This morning, as many of us Harbourfront employees arrived for work, we were greeted by tons of trailers. This could only mean one thing, someone was filming a movie! It’s TIFF season, so we couldn’t help but be excited. After some poking around, we discovered that they were filming “Best Laid Plans”.
Photographer Meera Margaret Singh recently spoke to Upfront about the second phase of her photographic journey through Ontario’s Greenbelt for the Beyond Imaginings exhibition. Here is what she had to say:
Artistic Director of World Stage, Tina Rasmussen, gives a behind the scenes insight into this seasons World Stage line up. For this episode, she discusses Alain Platel/les ballets C de la B (Belgium) and Out of Context – for Pina.
Matzka is quite original, seeing as there are no other Reggae artists currently hailing from Asia. The sound is unique, and is built from a number of different influences. Matzka recently performed at the Telus TAIWANfest Crossover 2010 at Harbourfront Centre, and Upfront had a chance to speak with him.
