The Studio Theatre has been transformed into a motion capture technology hub this week as Digital BlackBox rehearses for the final Hatch presentation of 2014, Faster Than Night. Be sure to come down to Harbourfront Centre this Saturday May 3rd at 2pm or 8pm to see this novel melding of live performance and 3-D animation.

Harbourfront Centre is attempting to set (another) world record this Canada Day! With your help, we can get into Guinness for the world’s largest dance freeze. Everyone of all ages/groups/skill levels are invited to come down and help us make this happen. You can even practice beforehand, too! During our Canada Day Weekend Celebrations, Jade Hip Hop Academy will teach everyone the moves for the dance freeze. Then, with DJ Manifest on the wheels of steel, we’ll make dance history.

Last night, Hotel Modern’s chilling depiction of a day in the life of Auschwitz during the Second World War, KAMP, began it’s five-show run at Harbourfront Centre. Using a scale model of the site and thousands of puppets, this performance is, as Phil Taylor put it, “brave in the telling and provocative.”
For the final HATCH presentation, multidisciplinary Winterreise Collective is exploring Franz Schubert’s celebrated song cycle through the personal lens of the diverse Canadian experience.
