Last week, we officially announced our 2013/2014 DJ Skate Nights season. As you can imagine, excitement here at Harbourfront Centre was running high with the addition of exciting DJs like Starting From Scratch, Skratch Bastid and the Footprints DJ collective to the programme, and of course, the return of Soca On Ice.
Our annual DJ Skate Nights series on the Natrel Rink, featuring Toronto’s hottest DJs — spinning their coldest mixes — is back for another season. We have an exciting line-up for you this year which includes names like Lucie Tic, who recently won best DJ in NOW Magazine’s Readers Poll, three-time Scribble Jam winner, and Juno nominated producer, Skratch Bastid and of course the world famous Starting From Scratch.
DJ Mensa always brings his A-game. From the warm-up to cooldown, and everything in between, he keeps it hot with mix-ups of hip hop and R&B. Having already made guest appearances on MuchVibe, Rap City, MTV Select and CBC, the word has spread about DJ Mensa. His Coolout series of mixes have gained notoriety both locally and overseas, and a slew of side projects and shows have him occupied indefinitely – including this upcoming weekend when he performs alongside Filipino-Canadian singer-songwriter Jessica David at the Mabuhay! Philippines Festival.
MC Jazz and DJ Cozmic Cat kick off Soundclash music festival tonight with a performance to set the bar for an amazing concert filled weekend. Catch them playing tonight at 9:30 p.m on our Redpath Stage.
Harbourfront Centre has you got covered with musical talents from July 12 to 14th with the SoundClash Festival. On top of that, however, we’re adding a special dance feature by presenting DanceClash on July 14th!
Friday nights just got a whole lot tastier! Deep-fried goodness and sizzling tunes take over Toronto’s waterfront with Harbourfront Centre’s newest summer-long experience. Gather friends, pack up the kids and head down to Harbourfront Centre for an outdoor showcase that explores the tastes and sounds that reflect distant lands and local terrains.
Say hello to the new generation of young Mexican artists: 3Ball MTY. The group, comprised of DJ Erick Rincon, DJ Sheeqo Beat and DJ Otto, formed in 2009 and have accomplished a lot in a short period of time, including 40 million views on YouTube for their “Intentalo” music video and a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist.
Harbourfront Centre is attempting to set (another) world record this Canada Day! With your help, we can get into Guinness for the world’s largest dance freeze. Everyone of all ages/groups/skill levels are invited to come down and help us make this happen. You can even practice beforehand, too! During our Canada Day Weekend Celebrations, Jade Hip Hop Academy will teach everyone the moves for the dance freeze. Then, with DJ Manifest on the wheels of steel, we’ll make dance history.
Keys N Krates spent considerable time perfecting their special blend of rap-trap-electronic music to be played live on stage. Having toured/performed alongside artists including Major Lazer, Pretty Lights, Flying Lotus, Bassnectar and Skrillex to name a few, the Toronto-based trio – Tune (drums), Matisse (keys) and Flo (turntables) – are bringing their unique sound to Harbourfront Centre during our Canada Day Weekend Celebrations.
Stylus Female DJ Award winner DJ Lissa Monét has a simple motto: “Good music is good music, no matter what your genre preference is.” She’s spun everywhere from New York to Africa and now we’re lucky enough to have “the go-to girl” for all things new, innovative and exclusive here at Harbourfront Centre for a V-Day Dance party on The Natrel® Rink.
