Harbourfront Centre Sailing & Powerboating offers Yachtmaster Certification in conjunction with International Yacht Training of Kelowna, B.C. Successful candidates will be awarded a “Master of Yachts 200 Tons” Certificate of Competency – a commercial endorsement for operating power or sailing vessels at the Mega-Yacht level.
The following programs are extensive theory and practical courses designed to provide the highest standards of marine education for both recreational and professional yachters. Designed for experienced crew with appropriate on-the-water experience.
International Master of Yachts (MOY) 200 Tons – Coastal Theory and Practical
For individuals seeking future certification at the Master of Yachts 200 Tons – Limited (Offshore) level and beyond. Equivalent to CYA Basic, Intermediate and Advanced courses. Successful candidates achieve Day Skipper, Bareboat Skipper and Coastal Skipper Endorsements.

International Master of Yachts (MOY) 200 Tons – Limited (Offshore) Theory and Practical
For knowledgeable crew with sufficient on-the-water experience. The IYT Master of Yachts Offshore Certificate is a commercial 200 Ton Masters Certificate of Competency for operating vessels, sail or power, up to 150 nautical miles offshore. The course stresses Collision Regulations, Tides & Currents, Meteorology & Coastal Navigation. This program is not for the novice who should start their training at the MOY Coastal level or equivalent experience.

International Master of Yachts (MOY) 200 Tons – Unlimited (Ocean) Theory and Practical
To gain the IYT Master of Yachts 200 Tons – Ocean Certification, a theory session and a practical session must be successfully completed. The theory portion comprises 48-hour classroom work including Celestial Navigation and Passage Planning. The practical portion is a submission including a series of celestial observations and sight reductions to determine your position.
Prerequisite: MOY – Offshore

International Certificate of Competence (ICC) – Theory & Practical
This 16hr course has both a theoretical and practical portion. There will be approximately 13hrs spent on in class theory, and 3hrs on the afloat test. The International Certificate of Competence gives international verification of competence for boaters using coastal waters in numerous countries across Europe. We are offering this course through International Yacht Training Worldwide.
Course Fee: $545 (16hrs, includes all material and the IYT processing fee (ICC certificate)

International Bareboat Skipper and ICC Theory and Practical
This is the next logical step after Intermediate Cruising and prepares the individual for expanding their cruising knowledge including renting a boat in Europe, the Caribbean as well as in North America and includes the International Certificate of Competency (ICC) which is a prerequisite for renting a boat in Europe . This 5 day live aboard course emphasizes Meteorology, Pilotage and the International Collision Regulations.

International Certificate of Competency (ICC) – Practical Test
This is the afloat test challenge section of the ICC for either Sail or Power. It encompasses the following elements: The CYA Intermediate Cruising plus the CYA Coastal Navigation or equivalent; Leaving the dock, crew briefing, docking procedures and picking up a mooring ball; and Crew Overboard and boat handling.
Course Fee: (3 hrs) $195
International Certificate of Competency (ICC) – In-Class Theory
This 13 hour theory course refresher derives from the program requirements of the IYT ICC curriculum, including vessel checkout, meteorology, pilotage and passage planning, plus vessel handling. It does not include the practical on water test portion.
