A Message For Our Camp Families
It is with heavy hearts that Harbourfront Centre has cancelled all 2020 Summer Camps. This difficult decision was guided by the recommendations of Toronto Public Health, Public Health Ontario and Health Canada, and the recently announced Government of Ontario roadmap for safely reopening the province.
We have spent the past weeks working with our camp colleagues and public health officials to see if there was a way to bring the children together with minimal health risks. Due to the nature of day camps and the current physical distancing directives, we could not find a way to run summer camps safely.
We understand that our campers and staff look forward to summer, playing outside, learning new skills and enjoying the company of one another at camp, and we know this is disappointing news. Given that we are now months into this isolation, not having camp for children and families will make for a more challenging summer.
We are continuing to work with public health officials and follow their directives. Should anything change, we will work to see if there is any way we can offer some kind of reduced, reformatted day program, under strict public health guidelines, provided that we can do so safely and not put our campers or our staff at risk.
We thank you for your understanding and encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns regarding summer camps. We look forward to seeing you again for the 2021 summer camp season!
