Blow it up!

March 25, 2011

It’s the weekend! Nothing says weekend like spending time with the kids making a whole cornucopia of balloon figures. Dinosaurs, hats or animals, we have them all at The Centre Shop.

Become a balloon genius and amaze your loved ones with your uncanny balloon skills and, while the clan is blowing up these stylish balloons, twisting and turning them into air art, why not dazzle them with your general balloon knowledge?

For example:

The inventor of the rubber balloon, (the most common balloon) was Michael Faraday in 1824.

Angioplasty is a surgical procedure in which very small balloons are inserted into blocked or partially blocked blood vessels near the heart.

Henry J. Maar (1921–1992), known as “The Sultan of Balloons”, was one of the pioneers in balloon twisting. He appeared for over a decade on episodes of the long running Bozo’s Circus.

Prior to the invention of rubber balloons, balloons were made from pig bladders.

In the film The Red Balloon, a young boy realizes his balloon has a mind and will of its own, and it begins to follow him wherever he goes.

and of course, to accompany you, that essential balloon song:
