Since beginning her residency at Harbourfront Centre, Teresa has also been participating in the Wood Fire Mentorship led by Tony Clennell through the Hamilton and Region Potter’s Guild. Teresa has been exploring the effect of flame, ash and atmosphere in the wood kiln on the surfaces and interiors of vessels. While very interested in the ability of clay to mimic other materials, she has found that wood firing can add another layer of meaning to an object.
Teresa has a B.A. in English from the University of Toronto as well as a B.Ed. After a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher, Teresa returned to school to complete an advanced diploma in Craft and Design: Ceramics at Sheridan College. She has been an Artist-in-Residence at Harbourfront since 2014.
