The Sami are an Indigenous Finno-Ugric people inhabiting the Arctic area of Sápmi, which today consists of parts of northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. The Sami are the only Indigenous people in Scandinavia.

Several livelihoods are pursued by the Sami including coastal fishing, fur trapping and sheep herding; the best-known being semi-nomadic reindeer herding.

The Sami-themed exhibit has two areas: an indoor area featuring arts and crafts, and an outdoor area that invites visitors to step inside a traditional Scandinavian tent, or try reindeer lasso throwing.

Swedish researcher Elin Marakatt will be on-hand to answer questions from the public.
