Harbourfront Centre believes in engaging youth.
"My students came to School Visits for a day of arts and crafts. The lesson was broken into logical and well-presented segments that made it a successful learning experience for everyone, including one of my students who is autistic. It was a great day...I look forward to coming back next year."

Dynamic interactive cultural programmes for youth nurture individual development while encouraging collective responsibility. Through active involvement in creative pursuits, young people learn to explore their own talents and potential while garnering a broader understanding of their own community and cultures beyond their own experience. Through direct interaction with artists and creators outside the school environment, youth experience different views of the world and alternative ways to express their thoughts, their ideas and their emotions. The ultimate goal is to create an active engagement for young people with the world and the community that surrounds them, while nurturing a greater understanding of themselves.
We actively engage our young people through:
- Providing stimulating and innovative programmes to more than 45,000 students each year through our School Visits programme.
- Involving 5,000 children each year in more than 30 different Summer and March Break Camps programmes.
- Creating a year round HarbourKIDS initiative that explores provocative ideas and themes for young people and families in free public weekend site activities.
- Exposing students and young people to the cultures of different countries and traditions through programmes and specific arts festivals and activities.
- Creating an understanding of public and collective responsibility through programmes including architecture and urban planning exhibitions and activities.
