Mimi Zenebe

The Azmari, or Ethiopian singer-musicians, are skilled at improvisation and play an important role in Ethiopian society, much like the griots of West Africa.

Masenqo (single-stringed fiddle) player Abebe Fikade comes from a long line of Azmari from the Gondar regions performing songs with traditional and contemporary themes, and Mimi Zenebe is a talented vocalist and dancer hailing from a musical family and known as the "Edith Piaf" of Ethiopia.

The Azmari performers will be accompanied by the talented Bereket Gebrekirstos on the traditional kebero (drum).
