September 22, 2017
HATCH presents new performance in progress by Ellen Furey.
Ellen Furey is a dance artist based in Montreal. She is interested in pushing the virtuosity and showmanship that the trained dancer holds, maintains, develops and embodies, and using it as the meeting place of abstract bodily expression, rebellion and debate.
Ellen Furey has worked with makers including Daniel Léveillé Danse, Dana Michel, Montréal Danse, Fréd Gravel, Michael Trent, Christopher Willes, Amanda Acorn, Marten Spangberg, Sasha Kleinplatz, Alicia Grant and Benjamin Kamino, among others. She spent three transformative years as a company member of Dancemakers. She is currently co-creating with choreographer Malik Nashad Sharpe. Her solo work has been supported by The Current Sessions NYC, Usine C, Dancemakers, Gibraltar Point and Movement Research at the Judson Church.
