What to wear

A CSA-approved hockey helmet or a winter sport helmet (ski or snowboard helmet) are required for ALL participants. Bicycle helmets are not permitted. Face masks are not mandatory, but younger skaters may benefit from the added protection.

Please dress for the weather since the Natrel Rink is outdoors and by the lake. Make sure that your clothing allows you to move freely while keeping you warm and dry. Snowpants or waterproof pants are highly recommended. Jeans are not suitable for skating.

Waterproof gloves/mitts are ideal.

No skate or helmet? We can help!

Skate sharpening: $10

Because classes are held outdoors, weather plays an important role in our programming. Classes are held in all conditions, unless they get extreme. If we cancel a class, we’ll reschedule it. You’ll always receive your complete number of classes.

Classes are subject to cancellation due to the following conditions: Heavy precipitation (rain, snow, hail), extreme wind, lightning and/or extreme cold (-15 C air temp. or -25 C with wind chill).

Classes will be rescheduled on Monday or Friday of the following week. If a patron is unable to attend the rescheduled class, no refund will be issued.

If a class that has been rescheduled is cancelled again, a refund will be issued.

Safety Information

All participants will be required to submit a signed waiver prior to participating in a lesson.

Parent and/or guardian signatures are required on waivers for skaters who are under 18 years of age. All participants must adhere to the set policies in place for the safe use of the Natrel Rink.
