Helmet Policy

CSA-approved hockey helmets or a winter-rated helmet (e.g. ski or snowboard helmet) are required for ALL participants. Bicycle helmets are NOT permitted.

Attire

Dress warmly! Waterproof gloves and/or mitts are highly recommended. Clothing should be water-resistant and allow for freedom of movement. Wearing jeans during lessons is discouraged.

Waiver and Rink Safety

All participants will be required to submit a signed waiver prior to participating in a lesson. Parent and/or guardian signatures are required on waivers for skaters who are under 18 years of age. All participants must adhere to the set policies in place for the safe use of the Natrel Rink.

Class Cancellations

Lessons are held unless weather conditions are extreme. We use the Toronto Islands forecast, which often differs from the Toronto Pearson forecast by a couple of degrees.

It is the responsibility of the participant to call the Learn to Skate info line at 416-973-1620 after 3pm (Monday—Friday) or after 7:30am (Saturday & Sunday) prior to the start of their class to ensure that classes are running.

Weather conditions change throughout the day. In extreme cases, cancellation of classes may occur after they have started for the day. Classes cancelled by Harbourfront Centre will be rescheduled. Classes are subject to cancellation due to the following conditions: Heavy precipitation (rain, snow, hail), extreme wind, lightning and/or extreme cold (-15 C air temp. or -25 C with wind chill).
