Literary Arts at Harbourfront Centre

Harbourfront Centre’s Literary department (Authors at Harbourfront Centre) is one of the oldest programming divisions in the organization, tracing its first readings back to June 1974. Audiences enjoy events featuring Canadian and international authors weekly from September to June, and the department presents the annual International Festival of Authors (IFOA) every October.

Authors at Harbourfront Centre hosts a number of programs for younger readers, including YoungIFOA, part of IFOA, and ALOUD: a Celebration for Young Readers, and Forest of Reading® Festival of Trees™, both in May. These events for school-age children are presented in partnership with the Harbourfront Centre School Visits program.

Authors at Harbourfront Centre also works with World Stage, Courses and Workshops, School Visits, World Routes summer weekend festivals, HarbourKIDS family programs, and York Quay Centre ARCHITECTURE exhibitions to present international and Canadian authors across Harbourfront Centre programming.
