Music at Harbourfront Centre

A leader in the presentation of world music in Toronto, Harbourfront Centre has several programmes in which music is an important element.

Every summer the World Routes weekend festival series presents dozens of local, national and international music acts as part of its programming. The range of music presented is huge, from new music, to world classical music to hip hop, jazz and all of the world music genres. The vast majority of these are free to the public although some major acts are ticketed. In summer the outdoor venues — The Sirius Satellite Radio Stage and the Toronto Star Stage — host the majority of presentations although several indoor venues and stages are also employed.

The popular Summer Music in the Garden series of concerts is a partnership between Harbourfront Centre and the City of Toronto. Traditional and contemporary classical music groups, singers and dancers perform at the Toronto Music Garden (475 Queens Quay West), just west of the main Harbourfront Centre site.

Music is an important element in many other Harbourfront Centre programmes, including the international performing arts World Stage programme and the family friendly HarbourKids series of programmes and activities. Still other organizations, such as Small World Music, Live Nation and Art of Time are frequent partners or self-presenters in Harbourfront Centre’s numerous indoor and outdoor venues.
