The Heist Project, a one-woman dance event, premieres three commissioned works created by five international artists. Conceived and performed by dancer and Jose Limon Dance Company member Belinda McGuire, the three Heist solos are The Eight Propositions, a collaboration of Emio Greco, Pieter C. Scholten (Amsterdam) and McGuire (with original music by Jerome Begin),Anthem for the Living by Sharon Moore (Toronto) and Blue Solo, Joni by Idan Sharabi (Tel Aviv). To compose Heist, McGuire traveled around the world creating and collecting the solos, all built on spontaneity and reactivity.
Belinda McGuire graduated from The Juilliard School (BFA 2006). A member of The Limón Dance Company since 2008, she has danced with Gallim Dance, Doug Varone and Dancers, and The Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre. As an independent artist, she performs, creates and produces solo work. Her choreography has been presented in Mexico, Canada, The Netherlands and New York. She engaged in a residency at The International Choreographic Arts Centre Amsterdam in 2010, received the 2008 Bessie Schönberg Residency at The Yard and was recognized by the 2007 Susan Braun Award of The Dance Films Association.
