Overview

Celebrating thirty-three years of illuminating the winter solstice through dance.

Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre’s WINTERSONG – dances for a sacred season returns to warm the hearts of family audiences with a breathtaking tapestry of seasonal dance inspired by the world’s rich solstice traditions.

A world premiere by fast rising Haitian-born choreographer, Rodney Diverlus, highlights the company’s long-awaited return to performing live. The program also features multiple Dora Mavor Moore Award-winner Alyssa Martin’s quixotic STAR SEED, originally created for WINTERSONG’s 2020 streamed edition.

Two WINTERSONG classics complete the program, Hanna Kiel’s exuberant A Day of Light (2018), set to original music by Greg Harrison and Frances Miller and Carol Anderson’s signature creation Nowell Sing We with medieval carols arranged by Kirk Elliott.
