Allen McInnis

Allen McInnis has been a photojournalist for nearly 20 years. He works as a photographer for the Gazette, and contributes to various newspapers and magazines, including Maclean'sGlobe and Mail, Time, and Men’s Fitness. He has twice received the Canadian Press Picture of the Year Award and has also received the Canadian National Newspaper Award.

Andy Clark

British Columbia & Yukon, June 2007

Andy Clark has worked for the Canadian Press, United Press International and Reuters News pictures. He has travelled extensively covering famines, disasters, world summits, sporting events, the first Gulf War, conflicts in the Balkans, and for two years worked as the official photographer for Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. Clark has been based in Brussels, London, Toronto and most recently Vancouver.

Chris Young

Chris Young is a Toronto-based freelance photographer shooting for a number of clients including Canadian Press, Maclean’s, Sir magazine, International Architecture & Design magazine. He recently relocated from England where he for shot for Agence France Presse, The Press Association, Forbes magazine, Vogue, Daily Telegraph, Oxfam and Christian Aid. His images have been reproduced in newspapers, magazines and books around the world.

Dan Riedlhuber

Alberta, June 2007

Dan Riedlhuber is a freelance photographer working with both corporate and media clients including Reuters Canada, Canwest, Edmonton Journal, Urban Male magazine, Epcor and the Government of Alberta. He covered the Stanley Cup Finals in 1990 and the Pan American Games in 1999. Riedlhuber has received numerous awards for his work, the most recent being an award from The News Photographers Association.

Jeff Bassett

British Columbia (Fort Nelson area), June 2007

Jeff Bassett was the chief photographer at the Ottawa Sun for 16 years before moving to British Columbia to work as a freelancer. He has shot for Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Canadian Press and Vancouver Sun. Bassett has won several awards including Canadian Press Picture of the Year in 2004, Canadian Press Picture of the Month on several occasions, and the Edward Dunlop Award for news, sports and feature photography.

Jim Ross

Jim Ross is an award winning photographer and a graduate of Loyalist College; Canada’s leading photojournalism school. Currently based in Toronto, Ross freelances for Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, The New York Times, Mclean’s and Getty Images. He continues to hone his skills both in the field and in the darkroom. A genuine curiosity and interest in his subjects make Ross one of Ontario’s most versatile photographers.

John Woods

Manitoba, February 2007 & June 2007

John Woods has been published in The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Globe and Mail, National Post, Maclean's, Canadian Press, Reuters, and Associated Press. John’s’ work was also featured in the book Life of Water, a project designed by the group PhotoSensitive. He is co-founder of the photo collective Redline Photo Agency which specializes in documentary photography. Woods has always attempted to give a voice to the marginalized through his work.

Kazuyoshi Ehara

Ontario (Georgian Bay), October 2006

Kazuyoshi Ehara left his native Japan to study photojournalism in Canada. After graduating, Ehara landed internships with both the Ottawa Citizen and Toronto Star and in 2004 founded Sakana Photography. Ehara recently won the Younosuke Natori Award for Lost Memories, a photo essay of his grandfather's descent into Alzheimer's. His work has been published in numerous publications in North America, Asia and Europe.

Todd Korol

Saskatchewan, June 2007

Todd Korol was staff photographer for Saskatoon’s StarPhoenix for five years before going on to work as a freelancer in 1994. His work has been published in Time, National Geographic, The New York Times, National PostGlobe and Mail, Paris Match, Washington Post, and Reuters. Korol has won several awards from the National Press Photographers Association, Western Canadian News Photographers Association and Canadian Weekly Newspaper Association.

Phillip Wilmer

Phillip Wilmer is an adventurer who has lived in many different countries. However, it was in Africa that Wilmer learned to fly. His work took him all over the continent so he was constantly in the air and since he hated being a passenger, he became a pilot. Upon his return to Canada, he earned a second set of wings in British Columbia. Wilmer’s two passions in life and the source of his inspiration are flying and sailing. At an age where many talk about taking it easy, Wilmer the explorer still looks for the next adventure.

Louise LariviÉre

Louise Larivière was born in a small town north of Montreal where she first learned to “respect” nature. As a young adult her passion for journalism took her to London England, where she lived for nine years. Larivière has helped promote small businesses in Nunavut and northern Quebec and Ontario, and was a pioneer in using documentary photography as a tool for serving these communities. She has travelled extensively for her work, but today it is Canada and the Boreal Forest that she is most passionate about.
