Students draw on personal experience as inspiration to explore the process of relief printmaking and create a series of colourful prints.
Your students learn the techniques of relief printmaking using a soft linoleum block and create their own unique series of prints. In a full day workshop, students will extend their printmaking process by experimenting with the reduction process.
Key Inquiry Question: How does your experience with the print making process lead to a better understanding of the printed images we see daily?
By the end of the programme, students will:
- Discover the history of printmaking through the examination of works by prominent artists
- Explore carving techniques to produce line, texture, pattern and positive and negative space in printmaking
- Demonstrate the safe use of lino carving tools to produce a printing block
- Produce several coloured relief prints using a linoleum printing block
