Textile arts often bring together communities and encourage collaboration. Your students discuss contemporary and traditional textile works that have encouraged social change and awareness. Using recycled fabrics, collage and fibre arts techniques, students create a collaborative piece based on their vision of a hopeful, healthy and inclusive world community.

Key Inquiry Question: Explain how a collaborative work of textile art can tell a story(Grade 2-4) / evoke social change (Grade 5 and up)

Programme Objectives

By the end of the programme, students will:

  • Explore contemporary and traditional textile works that have encouraged collaboration, social change and awareness
  • Experiment with recycled fabrics, collage and fibre arts techniques
  • Produce a collaborative, two dimensional work based on a family portrait and/or visions of a hopeful, healthy and inclusive world
