2014 marks the 40th Anniversary of Harbourfront Centre and our 35th Anniversary in School Visits. Each year, all our public programmes are curated based on a Big Idea. As we approach our 40th milestone, our programming explores the idea of Legacy by asking students to critically engage with the world around them through various forms of artistic and cultural expression. Legacy by definition is a fluid term; past experiences build towards present achievements and inspire future goals. Have your students explore the legacy of the built form through our Urban Studies programmes. Engage students through an exploration of artistic legacy in our Visual Arts and Performing Arts programmes. Build a digital legacy through our Media Studies programmes.
This year, we are reinforcing our strong programming in all disciplines through the exploration of a key inquiry question. Providing a clear context for you and your students, this key inquiry question will structure your day.
Looking for French language instruction? Be sure to contact us – our team of educators is able to provide instruction in both of Canada’s official languages in a number of our Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Urban Studies programmes – be sure to request this when speaking with our registrar. Don’t forget to sign up for our e-newsletter to be kept up to date on current trends in Arts Education, upcoming Harbourfront Centre events and to inspire your own classroom practice.
Why not create a legacy in your own classroom with a memorable visit to Harbourfront Centre your students will be talking about for years to come.
Here's to another year of creative collaboration!
