Colour Explorations

Program: Visual Arts & Contemporary Craft

Curriculum Connections: Canadian and World Studies, Geography, History, Social Studies, Visual Arts, French

Students will explore the effect of natural light and how it plays with the colours they see in Harbourfront Centre’s waterfront landscape. Back in the studio students will rotate through play based activity centres, experimenting with colours, line, shape, texture and space. The students’ work will culminate in a collaborative landscape mural.

Program Objectives
By the end of the program, students will:

  • Explore how we perceive colour throughout Harbourfront Centre’s landscape
  • Experiment with colour, texture and shape through the medium of paint
  • Use appropriate vocabulary as related to the elements of design
