A vessel is more than a container. It reveals insight into the artist and their culture. Students will be challenged to design and create a vessel while considering how its’ function influences form.

How can the relationship between form and function influence the creation of your sculpture?

Program Objectives
By the end of the Contemporary Vessels program, students will:

  • Use appropriate terminology related to ceramic arts
  • Assess historic and current examples of the chosen project
  • Demonstrate an ability to construct a vessel using hand building techniques
