Your students will experience life inside Toronto’s City Hall and Ontario’s Provincial Justice System discussing the three levels of government. They will also have an opportunity to meet and pose questions to a judge and discover the historical roots of these institutions on a fascinating walk through downtown Toronto. Students discuss reasons for democratic decision-making and the responsibilities of informed citizens.

Through guided inquiry, your students will build connections to the diverse identities in Toronto and their related histories and cultures

Program Objectives

By the end of the program, students will:

  • Describe the different levels and functions of the Canadian government
  • Identify and describe the significance of a variety of buildings, locations and people to the Canadian government
  • Demonstrate how the government impacts our daily lives
