Program: Urban Studies

Curriculum Connections: History, Social Studies, Visual Arts, Offsite

Your students will explore Toronto’s City Hall and Ontario’s Provincial Justice System discussing the three levels of government. They will also have an opportunity to witness court proceedings and discover the historical roots of these institutions on a fascinating walk through downtown Toronto. Students discuss reasons for democratic decision-making and the responsibilities of informed citizens.

Program Objectives
By the end of the Government Studies program, students will:

  • Describe the different levels and functions of the Canadian government
  • Identify and describe the significance of a variety of buildings, locations and people to the Canadian government
  • Demonstrate how the government impacts our daily lives
