Students will be introduced to Alvéole Urban Bee Project through a presentation by one of Harbourfront Centre’s School Visits Artist Educators. They will engage in observation and drawing activities leading into a collaborative art project inspired by the life cycle of the honeybees. Students will gain a better understanding of the importance of pollinators and their role in our ecosystems and ultimately human sustainability.

Working with a variety of materials, students explore the creative process to make a unique response.

Key Inquiry Question: How can making a collaborative art piece inspired by bees lead to a better understanding of our environment?

Program Objectives:

By the end of the program, students will:

  • Gain an understanding for the important role of bees within our environment
  • Use their own observation skills to create a drawing as inspiration for an image transfer
  • Use vocabulary as related to bees and the image transfer process as appropriate
