Stuff! We all have our stuff and we need to carry it with us. Using textile art processes – weave, knot, sew, glue, tie – students will engineer a carrying device designed to hold their personal belongings.

Working with a variety of materials, students explore the creative process to make a unique response.

Key Inquiry Question:
How can experimentation with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) be combined with personal needs to create a carrying device?

Program Objectives
By the end of the program, students will:

  • Be introduced to a variety of innovative carrying solutions from around the world
  • Experiment with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) to design a functional carrying device that meets an identified need
  • Use vocabulary appropriately as related to textile arts techniques
