Your students learn the history and tradition of masks and experiment with paper sculpture techniques and three dimensional forms. Students flex their imaginations by creating a colourful mask of their own.

Key Inquiry Question: Describe how you have used expressive colour and form to create the character of your paper mask.

Programme Objectives

By the end of the Paper Masks program, students will:

  • Assess the historic and current use of masks as a form of cultural expression
  • Explore elements of design such as space, shape, colour and form
  • Experiment with paper sculpture techniques while constructing a paper mask
