Rema Tavares

Rema is an artist, educator, and mother of Jamaican and Irish descent. She attended Canterbury High School for the Arts in Ottawa, and graduated from the University of Ottawa, with an honours degree in Second Language Teaching. Rema is a recipient of the “Defining Moments” award, selected as one of 13 artists out of 700 applicants across the country for a nation-wide exhibit. She is also a co-founder of the MIXED Art Conference, a biennial artistic forum centered around racialized mixed-race identity and intersectionality. She has been invited to speak at the University of Toronto, Ontario Public Services, CBC Radio, and CTV Canada AM.
