Inspired by one of Jamaica’s famous storytellers – Miss Louise Bennett-Coverley, fondly known as ‘Miss Lou’ – students explore stories from a variety of perspectives: as audience member, as participant and as storyteller.

Program Objectives
By the end of the program, students will:

  • Appreciate the origins of oral storytelling in general and the work of Miss Louise Bennett-Coverley in particular
  • Participate in activities to gain an understanding of the cultural importance of storytelling
  • Use key vocabulary as related to storytelling correctly
