Inspired by one of Jamaica’s famous storytellers – Miss Louise Bennett-Coverley, fondly known as ‘Miss Lou’ – students explore stories from a variety of perspectives: as audience member, as participant and as storyteller.
Key Inquiry Question:
How can learning to tell a story help you express yourself?
By the end of the program, students will:
- Appreciate the origins of oral storytelling in general and the work of Miss Louise Bennett-Coverley in particular
- Participate in activities to gain an understanding of the cultural importance of storytelling
- Use key vocabulary as related to storytelling correctly
