Inspired by one of Jamaica’s famous storytellers Miss Louise Bennett-Coverley, fondly known as ‘Miss Lou’, students explore stories from a variety of perspectives; as audience member, as participant and as story teller.
Using dramatic art techniques, students will hear, create and respond to issues relevant to their world.
Key Inquiry Question: How can learning to tell a story help you express yourself?
By the end of the program, students will:
- Appreciate the origins of oral storytelling in general and the work of Miss Louise Bennett-Coverley in particular
- Participate in activities to gain an understanding of the role of storytelling within various cultures.
