An exciting collaboration for Fall 2018! School Visits partners with the Toronto International Festival of Authors to present one-of-a-kind experiences which includes a short author reading followed by a question and answer period with the author and participation in a visual arts activity that responds to the topics discussed.

Emma Donoghue

Best known for her novels, which range from the historical to the contemporary, Emma Donoghue’s international bestseller Room was a New York Times Best Book in 2010 and a finalist for the Man Booker Prize, the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Book and the Orange Prize. The Lotterys More or Less is her second novel for young readers. Emma Donaghue is an Irish emigrant twice over. She spent eight years in Cambridge doing a PhD in eighteenth-century literature before moving to London, Ontario, where she lives with her partner and their two children. She also migrates between genres, writing literary history, biography, and stage and radio plays, as well as fairy tales and short stories.

Tim Wynne-Jones

Tim Wynne-Jones has written 36 books for people of all ages and sizes. He has won The Governor General’s Award twice and been short-listed six times. He has also won the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award twice, the Arthur Ellis Award of the Crime Writers of Canada, twice, and the Edgar Award presented by the Mystery Writers of America, once. He has twice been short-listed for the Guardian Book Prize. Tim books have been translated into a dozen languages. He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2012.
