Get energized by the sun’s rays- search for renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and their applications, along the shore of Lake Ontario at Harbourfront Centre!

• On an exploratory waterfront walk learn about energy sources and the way we put energy to work, uncover the ways that we put energy to work in our everyday lives
• Explore wind and moving water as renewable sources of energy and explore environmentally-friendly energy sources
• Discuss the steps that we can take to reduce our energy consumption and become more energy conscious

Discover the Waterfront Community

Urban Studies

Explore Toronto’s exciting (and growing) lakeside urban community!

• Consider the social and physical needs of residents in the area
• Observe the different ways people travel around an urban community and the wide range of occupations and service providers in the waterfront community
• Compare and distinguish features of urban and rural communities and investigate the interaction between the waterfront community and the environment

Explore Toronto’s exciting (and growing) lakeside urban community!

• Consider the social and physical needs of residents in the area
• Observe the different ways people travel around an urban community and the wide range of occupations and service providers in the waterfront community
• Compare and distinguish features of urban and rural communities and investigate the interaction between the waterfront community and the environment
• Learn to use terminology and vocabulary specific to urban studies
• Learn and practice six levels English language skills throughout the programme

See government in action! Experience life inside Toronto’s City Halls and Ontario’s provincial justice system, then discover the historical roots of these institutions on a fascinating walk through downtown Toronto.

• Attend a court in session at “Old City Hall” then meet with a Provincial Court Judge who will answer your questions!
• Learn about government in the days of the Old Town of York and compare it to how the City of Toronto is governed today
• Discuss reasons for democratic decision-making and the responsibilities of informed citizens

• Gain exclusive access to the 54th floor of the Mies Van Der Rohe T.D Centre and in this famous boardroom view some of the art pieces held in T.D banks corporate collection!

Learn about Lake Ontario fish species! Explore how and where they live and the challenges they face in their environment, and create a habitat in which native fish species can thrive!

• Create a multimedia fish habitat collage, building an ideal healthy living environment for a fish
• Explore the harbour area and learn about the fish that live in the lake, and the stresses that they encounter in their environment
• Visit the Spadina wetlands and a pike spawning area and learn why wetlands are important to the health and survival of our fishy friends (full day programme only)
