SoundClash Music Award 2015

Let your city hear your sound!

The SoundClash Music Award is Harbourfront Centre's annual live music competition for cutting-edge, forward-thinking artists from all genres, across the GTA. It's an important part of our commitment to showcase the wealth of talent bubbling beneath the GTA's surface.

The SoundClash Music Award highlights the work of artists who are pushing boundaries, crossing genres and exploring all that is possible through live music. Past SoundClash winners have gone on to great success, and SoundClash is one of the Canada's largest contemporary music prizes.

Between April 1 and May 10, Harbourfront Centre hosts an open call for artist submissions. A jury of local music tastemakers selects a shortlist of five artists who will perform as part of the Party on the Block festival, July 10–12.

The winners will be selected by a combination of jury and public voting – public voting is open from June 8–July 17. In addition to cash and prizes totaling over $10,000, artists compete for the opportunity to perform on the WestJet Stage as part of the Hot & Spicy Festival, held from Sept. 4–7.

Artists can submit via SonicBids, or by email to soundclash@harbourfrontcentre.com with links to songs, bio, video and photos. (Please note: NO attachments will be accepted. Emails with attachments will be bounced back and not considered).

Finalists will be contacted once the shortlist of artists is selected by the jury. All other inquiries will be responded to at our earliest convenience.

Curatorial Statement

The SoundClash Music Award is Harbourfront Centre's annual live music competition for cutting-edge, forward-thinking artists from all genres, across the GTA. It's an important part of our commitment to showcase the wealth of talent bubbling beneath the GTA's surface. The SoundClash Music Award highlights the work of artists who are pushing boundaries, crossing genres and exploring all that is possible through live music.

The SoundClash Music Award is an extension of Harbourfront Centre's mission and role as an incubator of local up-and-coming talent and an effort to showcase the most innovative and groundbreaking music that the city has to offer. We aim to provide a platform for artists who are not represented in the wider music scene, and shine a light on creators employing alternative perspectives on the possibilities for their music. By offering prizes, we hope to also help to fund further creation, and to help inspire the next generation of GTA artistry.
