The year 2010 marks two important anniversaries in Canada: it is the 125th anniversary of the Last Spike which was driven in 1885 to complete the transcontinental railway; it also marks the beginning of the imposition of federal restrictions on Chinese immigration – namely the Chinese Head Tax. Last Spike Revisited: Chinese Canadian Heritage Festival is a multi-disciplinary festival to commemorate these two important anniversaries and to promote and present Chinese Canadian heritage. This multi-disciplinary festival will include an exhibit of oral histories, a photo-exhibit, a film festival, a writers' evening of readings and an online showcase of Chinese Canadian artists.
