Cooking Demo: Chef Matthew Kimura of CBC's Best Recipes Ever

Matthew’s passion for food has always been a life long interest. Growing up helping out in Ginko the family restaurant working with food became second nature. But he only decided to pursue food as a career upon graduating University of Guelph majoring in History. After a semester of hotel restaurant management at Humber, Matthew became an Intern on the Food Network’s Christine Cushing Live (Season 3).  After working on Martin Yan Quick and Easy, Man Made Food, and Christine Cushing Live (Season 4) Matthew moved to Quebec City to open his family’s second restaurant also called Ginko.

Following managing and cooking in Quebec City, he moved back to Toronto in 2007 to further his career in food development and media. Recipe testing Christine Cushing’s latest cookbook, Pure Food, and various food styling projects as well as menu development for his family restaurant in Toronto, Ginko. In 2008, Matthew began working at Vertical restaurant as night gardmanger. Upon finishing at Vertical restaurant he worked on Anna Olson’s Fresh (Season 2) for the food Network as an Assistant Food Stylist. He then joined Canadian Living magazine's team as a Food Specialist doing recipe development, testing, research and writing. Most recently he worked on a food TV show for CBC in web food photography and food consultant for Best Recipes Ever (Seasons 1-3) in 2009-11. Working with all things food, Matthew currently freelances as a recipe developer, food stylist and culinary media specialist while working closely with his father at Ginko.
