The Hidden Cameras are a Berlin-based Canadian indie pop band who, alongside Broken Social Scene, helped usher in the collectivist independent approach to great music making, which created the conditions for the current Toronto music explosion. Their live performances have been elaborate high energy shows featuring go-go dancers in balaclavas, a choir and a string section. By early 2001 the band played host to a who's who of Canadian success stories from Owen Pallett to members of Arcade Fire. Since then they have released seven albums and nine singles on a variety of labels including Rough Trade in the UK and Toronto's own Arts and Crafts.
