About The Cowgirl Choir:
The Cowgirl Choir has been singing together for over two years and have made their rounds in bars, festivals and cultural programming throughout Toronto. They are as likely to be heard at the Silver Dollar on a rockabilly bill as they are at the Toronto Roller Derby singing "O Canada," or at Hillcrest Public School’s Funfair next to the cotton candy. The Cowgirl Choir is: Megan Flynn, Rebecca Daniels, Lesley Saliwonchyk, Cailin Bator, Hannah Cheesman, Claire Wynveen, Christina Jol, Christine Buckell, and Leane Eisen.
For this special performance, the Cowgirls will be backed by the band, Orchards. Members are Tony Wallace, Daniel Taylor and Gabi Charron-Merritt.
The Cowgirl Choir is a multi-harmony, old-timey country choir that covers old and modern classics. For HarbourKIDS: Folk, they'll be venturing off in a new-ish direction – creating a live stage show just for kids (and parents who love old-timey country music). They have selected songs that highlight themes of freedom, security, rebellion, growing and changing, nature and of course love (and sorrow). Their first-ever kid-centric show will get the kids (and fun-loving adult companions) up on their feet and moving, learning the signature dance moves of their biggest hits, and maybe even a song or two that they recognize from their favorite film – all done in the unmistakably sweet style of The Cowgirl Choir. And there will be some surprises too! So wear your boots and spurs and don’t forget your 10-gallon hat. You’ll be sure to get your heart-a-thumpin.
