About Canailles:

At first, they were six musicians from really different backgrounds that would meet up to improvise their own versions of bluegrass, country and blues standards. Their love story took a whole new level after a couple of months, and they started writing their own songs in French Quebecois joual, crafting a sound that would be all their own, a crazy mix of cajun, zydeco, country, blues, bluegrass, ragtime and garage rock. After ranking third at the 2011 Francouvertes finals, Canailles is now a group of eight, self-taught, hyperactive musicians, who graduated from whisky nights and will perform everywhere things are a-happenin'. Also, let's salute them for causing a borstal breakout at Montreal's FrancoFolies in summer 2012 and pretty much everywhere they ever played, in fact; including SXSW, Festival International de musique de Louisiane.

Canailles mix the rustic sounds of bluegrass, country, blues and ragtime with the urbane sounds of rock with a Quebecois flair!
