Bageshree Vaze is an Indo-Canadian dance artist and musician. Raised in St. John’s, NL, Bageshree initially trained in Bharatha Natyam, and studied vocal music with her father, Damodar Vaze. She later trained in Kathak dance with Jai Kishan Maharaj in New Delhi, and studied vocal music with the renowned Veena Sahasrabuddhe. Living in Toronto since 1996, Bageshree has three CDs to her credit, including Tarana, an album of music for Indian dance, which was released in India by Times Music under the name Khanak. Bageshree holds an M.A. in Dance from York University.
An award-winning performer, educator, digital artist and innovator, Rajib Karmakar performs frequently in India and abroad, including USA, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. He has performed in the Festival of India (Ottawa), Boom Festival (Portugal), Hip-Hop Connection Festival (Austria), Festival De Papillotes (France), European Yoga Congress (Switzerland), Ganesh Mahotsav (India), ARS Musica (Germany) and many other venues. Creator of the double-necked electric sitar, "Mayur Tantri," Rajib currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
Vineet Vyas hails from a family of musicians and studied the art of tabla with the late legendary master Pt. Kishan Maharaj. Bageshree and Vineet were commissioned by Opera Nova Scotia in 2017 to create Satyam, an Indian classical opera based on the classical love story of Savitri and Satyavan, along with sitar virtuoso Rajib Karmakar.
