The Sustainable Body with Kitt Johnson
In association with
Kitt Johnson X-act’s Post No Bills
Join Kitt Johnson for a training that takes into consideration the performative body’s most basic needs. Learn to nourish and strengthen the physical and mental foundation that is a precondition for the sustainable body – a body that is ready for the extreme challenges that performing art often demands.
This Masterclass incorporates a sharply focused mix of techniques, from free-style to formalized movement and philosophy. Practices include MB, BMC, release techniques, authentic movement, meditation and running practice, among others.
As part of TORQUE, Harbourfront Centre presents the Toronto premiere of Kitt Johnson X-ACT’s Post No Bills on February 8–9, 2019 in the Harbourfront Centre Theatre.

Dancer and choreographer Kitt Johnson is one of a kind on the Danish dance and performance scene. Her work is characterized by an extreme body control and a unique feel for simple but effective stage effects, and she uses these effects to create intense, physical and visual transformations that explore the deepest layers of human existence. As a dancer and choreographer, she has worked with Mark Tompkins, Nobert Stockheim, Sacha Waltz, Anita Saij and other leading figures. Kitt Johnson’s trademark is solo performance, but her repertoire is broad and also includes many ensemble works, site-specific work and a production designed for children. She also organises and curates performance festivals, including the site-specific MELLEMRUM biennale, contributing to her ambition to create a platform from which Danish and international performing arts can engage in dialogue and share experience.
