The Kingston Prize is a biennial national competition and touring exhibition founded by Kaaren and Julian Brown in 2005 and conducted by The Kingston Prize Association, a not-for-profit corporation and registered charity. It welcomes submissions by artists from across Canada and encourages the creation of contemporary portraiture of Canadians by Canadians – recording all stages of life, and highlighting both the spontaneous and contemplative moments of human experience.

The 30 finalists for the biennial’s seventh competition and exhibition were selected from over 430 submissions from across Canada by a professional jury consisting of Sara Angel, Founder and Executive Director of the Art Canada Institute, Dr. Catharine Mastin, Director of the Art Gallery of Windsor, and Glenn Priestly, Artist.

Harbourfront Centre is the final stop for The Kingston Prize 2017 exhibition tour.
