George Brown College Jewellery Arts graduates present IGNITE
Twenty one young designers and makers have been living and breathing jewellery for three years. After toiling away in the studio, designing and perfecting their skills, the graduating students of George Brown College's Jewellery Arts program will present work in precious metals, gemstones and other dazzling materials.
The excitement of creating a piece of jewellery is described by Sarah Dobranowski, one of the new graduates: "Each of us start with a common goal: to take small sparks of ideas and let them burst into finished pieces of jewellery. And it's the skills we've learned at George Brown that give us the ability to turn those ideas into precious wearable objects".
Although these young jewellers are showing pieces of their own design, they also have the training to translate anyone's ideas into commissioned pieces. Come and see the talents of the next generation of Canadian jewellers.
For over forty years, George Brown College has provided students with one of North America's largest and best-equipped jewellery schools. Students learn the skillful and creative use of traditional goldsmithing techniques as well as current materials and processes.
Graduates of the four different certificate and diploma programs work in every aspect of the jewellery industry from wholesale to retail, from precious metals and stones to costume and fashion jewellery, and from large manufacturing businesses to small independent studios.
