Neighbourhood Diaries: Stories from where I live

Neighbourhood Diaries: Stories from where I live is a social networking intiative that provides a free and permanent one-on-one writing and tutoring centre for children, with mentoring by volunteers from Toronto's art and writing communities.

The submission is based on three fundamental assertions:

  1. Children have a natural need to express rather than consume.
  2. The creative process plays a critical role in legitimizing a project's meaning as well as enhances sociability.
  3. Neighbourhoods have to be expressed, to be seen.

Neighbourhood expressions begin with an experience at Harbourfront Centre in 2010 by assembling Toronto's creative community to collaborate with children from nine community centres throughout the city.
