Neighbourhood Diaries. Stories from where I live. is a social networking process toward a permanent, free one-on-one writing-tutoring centre for children, taught by volunteers from Toronto's writing community. The submission is based on three fundamental assertions: Children need to express more than they need to consume. Writing is a meaning-making learning process, and Neighbourhoods have to be expressed, to be seen. It begins with an experience at the Harbourfront Centre in 2009 that serves to assemble the community for a demonstration of the three assertions and uses the assembled social equity to create a permanent location.
